Organisation

On the tracker it shows what we are lacking work on and need to do more of to achieve the best. I only have 4 Target Audience posts which is low considering the rest of how many I have done for each other category. To achieve this I am going to post more on social networking sites allowing the audience to have an opinion on my work for me to pick my choices.

Drafting and planning

I have been looking at different fonts I could use for different parts of the Film poster that I am going to be making. For the main title I was thinking something
Bold to get the audiences attention more, however I didn't know if to make it different and have it faded as it relates to the girl having the illness of not being all there. I have took a selection of fonts for www.dafont.com  which will help find out which font I will want to use in my end product. I am going to publish the photos to Twitter to get some feedback from what my target audience thinks.

The firs four fonts are for the main title of the film.

I like the font '28 Days Later' because it is still bold but with an effect, the audience will still be able to see it in front of the photo as it is very chunky. I like the effect of this font as I think it could relate to the film trailer as people won't understand fully what and who the man is relating to the font not all being there.

I like the font 'Franchise' because of how bold and plain it is. Sometimes with horror genre film posters simple writing can be as effective if the photo has got an effect on and stands out. Having something bold over the top would suit this as you wouldn't miss it.

I like the 'Trash Toys' font as one half of it is messed up and the other word is normal. This could go with the girls personality and how a side of her isn't all 'normal' and be effective. For me wanting the man in the picture to be blurred too it would go with this. It is also bold which is what I am looking for.

I like the 'This Corrosion' font as its different from the rest. It could be effective with the photo and make the picture as it would correspond to what the picture is saying. Its still bold as you can see the black but unusual which I like.

The three fonts are used for the other titles in the film poster.

I like the 'Headline' font as you can get a bold and non bold version to it. As I want to include two of the main characters on my poster I have thought I want to set it out like this making it look professional and if I have the surname bold it shows how important and famous they are making it more realistic.

I like the 'Bebas' font as its bold and very close together which is what I want for my Characters names and other titles on there. It will stand out from the photo even when the font size will be low.
I like the font 'Monofonto' as it is also bold but not too bold. This would mean that it couldn't blend in with the main title making it stand out more which is what is needed.
Its very plain and easy to understand when it would be in a small font.

Organisation

I have made a mind map of different words relating to the genre of the type of horror movie I would like to do.
I am going to look at this with Caitlin and then we can make some ideas and put words together to try and make our final decision on what we would want our film title to be.

After me and Caitlin have thought about 3 different title names I will post a picture on twitter so I will get an idea of what my audience will think is best.

I still yet don't know what layout or type of photo I want to do for magazine anciallry product, this is why I am researching different types of magazines and not specific ones.

I liked this magazine cover because it is creative with the 'Black Swan' title graved onto the skin. This is important because it links with the film and how it is painful for the ballet dancer.
I would want to do something creative like this to make it less boring as there is no headlines / sub headlines so it all focuses on the image.

I like the close up image and how you can see the expression on the characters face. I think with this I would have to use a darker background image to make if look more fearful and it's an image from a horror genre movie.

Drafting and Planning

I made two layouts on paper last week and posted them on a social networking site to see what one people would like most. This one was chosen as it was simple for a teaser trailer and not too much was on the poster (like production blurbs)
IDEA
I have thought of picture ideas that I could do and one is that the picture will be a close up shot of the girl from her shoulders upwards showing her facial expression and making her look vaunrable if she has no top covering her shoulders. Then I want the man behind her however i want his figure blurred so it shows the story line a bit and how he isn't real. I want there to be dark lighting and good make up and editing used and maybe some eye contacts with different colours.

About psychosis | Mind, the mental health charity - help for mental health problems

I have been researching different types of mental illnesses that fits my characters description, the description that she fit was under 'psychotic experiences'. I have researched this to get to know some of the stuff I could do for the end of my trailer as I am planning that soon and to research some of the names so I can think of film titles from them.

From the last magazine that I looked at this is completely different as the other had many cover lines on when this one doesn't have any apart from the main headline. I find this really effective as it shows the importance of the film and how nothing else is on the cover to distract people from them. I partially like how empire is black as it contrasts with the smoky background and stands out. With my magazine I am going to have to make sure that the mast head stands out from the background as it is going to be dark lighting in the background.

If I want my magazine to be Empire I am going to have to make sure that I have a suitable photo as every magazine cover Empire has done the photograph is always in front of it. I am going to have to make sure I will use the right photo for this. You can see with this cover as the right image has been used as like the masthead the actress at the front is wearing all black which contrasts with the background as well making you focus on her her more.

With my magazine I don't think I could do something exactly like this because the background of the image is very effective as its the smoke and fire etc. With my picture I will not be able to create something like this and have it that exciting. Therefore I am thinking of just having a few sub headings on the right or left side of the page and not on both.

This is a mind map of different ideas of what me and Caitlin came up with for the film trailer.

I've been looking into magazines that could give me inspiration for some things that I may want to include. This is not a horror magazine as I am not looking at any specific conventions but all of them which have used and picking out what I would like to use.

In my magazine I would not like to use many sub headings as this magazine cover has as I wouldn't want to take much attention away from the main movie on the cover and the picture as I want that to stand out and make an impact.

I like the use of the rule of 3 on the bottom left hand of the cover, making it that simple makes it easy for the audience to read. I would like to use the rule of 3 in my magazine however I would like to make up new film names to be more creative.

The plus sign on the right hand of the cover is a good way to show what else is in the magazine without using words, it makes the readers feel like they are gaining more from the magazine than just the new film, however it does this without taking any attention away from it.

The first sub heading 'The 27 most mind blowing movies ever' is good to use as it doesn't tell you any. The mind blowing matches with the mind blowing issue at the top with colour also. This makes the cover look organised and have a colour scheme making it professional.

I feel like with this magazine the things that I would not like to include is how many sub headings there are. I don't want the issue to be full that it doesn't look as scary as what it could.  As it's not a horror magazine the colours that I would use would be completely different to this using dark lighting in my photo. However I like how this magazine is creative with the  buildings in the mast head and behind as it links to the film. I need to think of creative ideas like this that I could use.

Target Audience

I used the social networking site twitter to get some feedback from the audience about what they think would be a better layout for me ancillary product which is a teaser poster. I had a response telling me which idea they think is better which is
first. This enables me to know what I need to do to fulfill the needs of my target audience making the best possible product I can to fit the genre. I'm going to work on the first idea more making more drafts with pictures and fonts and will be posting again to see another response on what's good and what I will need to work on.
(When clicking on photos the second one appears to be the first)

This photo is from the movie horror poster 'The Ward' . The photo was used because it is a psychological horror  movie about a girl who has multiple personalities and thinks that she is seeing people when really it's all her which gets revealed to you at the end. This fits in to my movie trailer plot as it's about a girl with mental problems.

I like this photo as it shows that effectively with the blurred  effect that the girl has obviously got something wrong with her and isn't all there. This has given me some ideas about my teaser poster. I have thought of ideas I could use from this and they consist of the man who thinks she's being stalker by in the background but not fully clear or it could be that they are not both clear.

Drafting and planning

Me and Caitlin have made a mind map for the ending of our teaser trailer, we just want there to be loads of jump cuts of different scenes meaning that it doesn't give a story line away as it doesn't focus on the actual story line just shows you clips. We came up with things that we could do for these which are typical in horror stories to make it more scary. With all the teaser trailers that I have looked at I have seen that at the end in all of them this is where most of the jump cuts happen so it leads up to the ending where there’s nothing. Some of the ideas we suggested and are going to talk discuss to get the right ending are below which we will sort out very soon.

From the start of researching horror posters to go with films, close ups of the characters face is what I have wanted to do and what I am going to do. I think it's very effective to see all of the features up close picking out there facial expressions, eyes , make up. I like it simple with just a quote. I am going to be drafting some ideas for my ancillary product soon to make sure I am organised. I want to do something clever with my product and maybe have the man in the background blurred showing confusion. I am going to map some ideas and still analyse  products to give me inspiration.

I think that not being able to see the girls neck and having this darkness to the image below contrasts with the face and the writing at the bottom. It makes you see clearly the writing making it easy to read the details. The colour of the writing red it goes with the blood and red eyes that are in the image. This is effective as it makes it seem like danger and carries on with the theme. In my teaser poster I would like to use a maximum of 3 colours running through it as if there's anymore it wouldn't be threatening/scary as it would seem more colourful.

The quote 'God wont save you' and the shadow on the face on the cross is very effective linking together making the poster a little more creative showing an insight to the film that maybe shes possessed, holy etc.

I like the eyes in the image as the editing or contacts have made it look like the girls eyes are bleeding. I have said from the start that I would like to do something with the eyes to make the poster effective however i am going to start needing to think of creative ideas like; two different coloured eyes showing different personalities or have a man in the background of a mid camera shot however have the man blurred showing that he may not really be there.

I would like to use a quote that relates to the film that would be useful so I will have to research some things that relate to that. I find that they don't look that real towards the top of the forehead so I wouldn't want to do anything like this.

I think the blood on her face is effective however i do not like the cracks on her face. I

Drafting and Planning

Me and Caitlin are creating a storyboard of what we have came up with of the film to make sure that it all goes together and that it will be easy for us to follow when filming without confusion. We have created it showing; what's happening, what camera angles being used, who's in the scene, where about is the scene and what effect it has example. Strobe lighting creating disorientation. We will present this in lessons getting feedback for improvements which we can work on.
