Drafting and Planning

This was my draft trailer, there was things that were wrong with it and that could of been better. At the end there is a scream, this was known as to be very typical and not fit with everything in the trailer, it seems to be a bit random. Therefore in the final version I have taken this out to make it be better.
Another thing was to increase the sound on the footsteps under the bed, this makes everything more tense and that you are focused more.
Another thing is that i had to slow down one scene as it looked too fast and you couldn't really see what was going it, it was a bit confusing. Therefore i have made it slower so you can see it all.

The main thing that I like on the magazine is how the blood is pouring down her face. However I like it because as its a cartoon picture that there are different colours running through the blood and how its not all just one colour, there are shades of dark red, light red, pink, light pink and also white through it. This is really effective as it is still scary however it is not haunting anyone.

I like the effect on her lips and how they are not puffy and nice but how they look like she hasn't drank in ages. It makes you think what the movie is about and what has happened to her.

I like how the title is in contrast with the image as they have used the same colour for both. Its effective and it doesn't look stupid as if there was too many colours it would take the effect away from the image, however it does not do it in this case.

I like how the background is black as it makes you focus more on the picture and makes it seem more scary.

I have took photos for my ancillary product for my poster to try and get the best one. As my poster has to be different to my magazine I had to think of something different from the girls face. These are the photos that I have taken...

For these to look effective I will have to edit the best one that I think would be better for my poster.

This is the photo that I am going to be using for my magazine cover. I am going to try and get cartoon effects and drawings to make it fit in with the Little White Lies theme. I have created different effects and would like after to ask my target audience what they think would be best.

Me and Caitlin has created a production block to put at the end of our film. We have included a Facebook and twitter link which is what you normally see in trailers making it look professional. We tried to find the best font to fit what the normal production block would be. I will also try and use this with the poster to see if it looks effective.

Like the other Gif, I tried to do something like this in my movie so it would shock the viewers who are watching the trailer.

I have tried to research other horror films that little white lies have done issues for let the right one in. For the magazine they have put 'The Let The Right One In Issue' this is why I am going to use for my magazine 'The Tormented Issue'.

Organisation

For mine and Caitlin's film trailer we have decided that we are going to use the Annapurna clip at the start of the film. We chose this as this type of company as they only do small independent films. This would link as to why we are having our film on the little white lies cover, as these are both independent companies.

We also chose it because it looks like it would be for a horror film, if we had a universal pictures clip at the start you wouldn't know if it was going into a horror or now however with this film you can tell that it is going to be a horror. This is why we picked it as it's effective and fits the horror genre trailer.

Drafting and Planning

This is a photo that me and Caitlin took of the stalkers eye. I didn't know if it was effective or not to put at the end of the film. I am going to post this on twitter to see if they think it is effective for it to flash at the end. This way I know what to do with the response I get.

Drafting and Planning

When I seen the gif above it inspired me to try and do a scene like it. As you can see below this is the clip that we filmed of the Man character coming out of the shadow. This would intimidate the viewers and make them more scared when watching the trailer. I did this for it to be effective. The camera is low so it makes him look more fearful. However I wanted the lighting to be different when filming this as I wanted you to see the character more when the brightness was down. This has got me to think about if I should use this or not.

I looked for some horror magazine covers from little white lies as it is the magazine I am basing my film on. I did this to show how they actually do horror magazines as most of the pictures I have posted are not horror.

I like the black figure in the back as it keeps a mystery and makes it more scary.

You can see how still with this it is creative and is still using dark colours. I have to make sure that with my cover I am not using light colours as it wouldn't fit.

I need to make sure that my image doesn't look like there's just an effect and it looks cartoon. I am going to have to try different ways with the drawings and different websites.

As me and Caitlin know all of the trailer and have changed the start so our trailer does not match the story board we had before. We have created a new one which will go with the trailer perfectly. This will be uploaded when pictures come through.

Target Audience

As I was so unsure about what images and ideas I should use for my movie poster, I made a tweet on twitter asking my target audience what they think is better and both of them have gave two responses.

One of the responses was the window with the person on the outside, I have already researched this poster and have given out the pro's and con's and if I was still not going to use it I would still include the scene in my trailer.

Another suggestion was the shadow! I would have to see if I could do this with the stairs that are being used in the film to see if it would look effective. However with this I think it would be hard to make the shadow so I don't think I would use it.

Both of the people that replied then agreed on the last one. Which is the one that I originally thought was best and did research into and effects. I am going to try and do this with getting the lighting right so the font I use can be black.

However I would make sure that I will use on of the three suggestions that have been given as that's what my target audience thinks are best. But with all the other ideas I will still include them in the trailer.

This image shows the filming taking place at Caitlin's house, here we are focusing on the main girls make-up and making sure that everything is correct. As you can see from our original ideas back in October how we going ahead with her being in a dressing gown, going well with the bath scene and also making her look vulnerable to her target (the stalker)
Me and Caitlin are going to post a make-up video showing how we did the make up however not why.
Me and Caitlin wanted the girl to look ill, as we have made clear in the trailer how she is not taking her medication. So because of this we used cream to put on her face making it sticky and then applied Talcum Powder making her look pale. After this we put eye shadow under her eyes using brown, beige and grey colours to make her look like she has bags, we tried to do this realistic but at the same time visible to the camera. We thought we should do this to try and make it seem that she has had no sleep because of the man that is tormenting her. Then we applied a little to the top of her eye evening it out so it didn't look unrealistic. After this we then went on and applied normal make-up such as mascara and eyebrows making giving it a reality approach and how she still is just a normal girl.

When looking for ideas about what I wanted to do for my poster I came across the photo used above not realising that it is in fact a horror poster.

In this poster I like how you cannot see the woman's face, I think if I did this I would do the same to add mystery for the image. However the thing that I would want to make different about mine and this is that when the man is looking in for him to have his fists against the window and not his hands. This may make him seem more scary and intimidating for the audience.

Normally in horror posters I would not think of the writing to be white as I normally think it makes it not look like a horror poster, however in this i like the effect as it makes it look more creepy. I am going to have to see with certain images if the white font goes better, as all the ideas that I have thought of have dark backgrounds.

I think the font works well with the whole image as it doesn't look formal it looks like it could be written, this contributes with the window as when its steamy you can normally write on it - giving the poster a creative effect. This means that if I was to do a certain idea I might have to change my font from '28 days later' to something else to suit the image.
The whole window being dusty and black goes with the black face in the middle making it dark, if it was a normal window this would not go.

I think that with all the titles that I have used for my draft (The title, The producers of, The quote, The main character names, The five stars) on the window it might not fit and look not as effective as the main thing that the audience wants to focus on is the picture and then there's all the different titles covering it, I think with this type of image the information would have to be in a corner like this one so therefore I could try this out and see how it works.

I have to make sure that the picture goes well with the film title and trailer, Me and Caitlin was already going to do the window as a scene and for the stalker to be looking in at the girl. This means that for the poster there will be some connection and it not being random.

I have printed off pictures of the main girl in the trailer and cut them out for the wall that we are going to use in the clip. The clip will go onto the man looking at them and as there's a mirror in the mirror it can zoom into him on the face or zoom into one of the photos leading into another clip. On the weekend me and Caitlin will film this scene and then add it to what we have done to our movie already.

Drafting and Planning

With the idea that I had about having the images below as my poster and also in my movie trailer I tried to make the original image how I would want it and try to lower the lighting. I like all of these and think I would then like to do something like this for my movie trailer even if I don't for my movie poster. I would use this a scene for my movie as because its a teaser it will give you an insight to the movie and that's it.

However if I was to go ahead with the idea I think I would have to work on the lighting to make sure that you can still see the font writing in black, this is why I did the third image brighter. I like the third image as even though its bright there still is a shadow effect that makes it look mysterious and creepy. I think it would be better if there was a smoky black edge around as it would work better.

There is another idea that I have thought about which I could do for my poster, as the name of the film is 'Tormented' you can tell that the girl is being tormented or stalked by someone. You are even more going to be able to tell from the magazine cover and poster. However I think that it would be effective to do something like this with the poster as it would be completely different from the close up magazine cover.

I have found photos of walls with loads of photos on to show the example of what I would like it to be like. With doing this you would be able to connect both the magazine cover and poster and know that they are from the same film.

After looking at this I then went on to find photos that relate to a stalker profile and not just a wall full of random pictures as that's shown above. I like these photos in different ways. With the first photo I like the effect of it and how it looks scary, with my image I would have to make sure that the lighting isn't bright and that it is dull. I like in the first one that you can see the man looking at the photos however with this I like the  second one better. I like how there's a mirror in the middle of all of the photos as you are able to see the person looking at them and if I was to expand on this idea I would like to do something the same as you would be able to see the expression on the mans face and they way he would be looking at them. I also like better in the second one that you can see whats actually on the pictures and how there's drawings of them etc. showing how weird it is. If I was to do this I wouldn't mind if you didn't see all of them because of the dark lighting just some.

If I was to use this I could show it in the trailer at some points and glance on to the image and these scenes.

Because of my last post explaining how most films have different movie posters and magazine covers rather than having them a little the same. Therefore I have had to research some new ideas in which I could do for my photo for my poster as I like the idea for my magazine cover.

Window image
With this image you can see how there is a girl looking in on the other side, however as I am using my girl actor for my trailer on the magazine cover I could use this and change it to the male looking in on her. One of his hands could be against the window like the girls and the other could be dangling down with a knife/rope in it. This would be effective as it would be completely different to the magazine and have mystery to the film trailer as you can not see
his face.

With his idea I could either use two of these places to have this photo however I think it would be best with the right photo as it would be more clear and we can work with the windows making them looking rusty/ dirty however with the door the window is quite blurred so it wouldn't be as effective

 Shadow
With this image I thought that I could use something like it but have the girl walking in front and the man and the mans hand out reaching out to her shoulder. This would be effective and connect to the title 'Tormented' as you can see how she is getting followed by the man. I don't know what angle image I could use for this as here it is a low angle to make the man look bigger however as I would have both the girl and man in photo I would have to make sure that its only the man that looks bigger.

Hands coming from under the bed
With this image I think its effective as you can't see any of the man just his hands, this image is scary as you can tell that he wants her from it. I think this image is very different to my magazine as my magazine is a close up and this is a wide shot so you can see everything - which is completely different.

Eye hole
With the first image you cannot really see if it is a girl or a boy looking through the hole, however if I was to do this I would make sure that it would be a wider shot so that you can see for sure that its a man. With this I could make it seem like he would have dribble coming from his lip to make it look more creepier than what it is now. Then the second one I thought that you could see a bit of the mans head - the back of it but its not covering the hole and then seeing the girl through the hole.

I like all of these ideas and think that the next time we film I am going to try each one to know which one is best for me to use.

There are four images above of 2 magazine covers and 2 posters for the film 'The Dark Knight'. With my Horror movie I have planned out that my two ancillary products are similar as its still with the girls face, however with a movie its more likely that the 2 photos are completely different as you can see above.

You can see that with the magazine covers it tends to focus on the one character rather than both which is the Joker and with the posters it works more on the Batman. This shows how they are both completely different but how you can still tell that they link together with the same thing when just looking at the picture.

You can see that for each picture all of them are different, with the magazines you have a long shot showing all of the Joker, seeing his outfit and the surroundings rather than just his face. This is effective as with his clothing its not something that you would normally wear and its a bit jokey which relates to him and his name when being the Joker and not taking things too seriously. The other photo for the magazine shows a close up of the Jokers face, this is also effective as it is what he is most known for - his make up, so therefore this would have been a good focus point. There is also direct address being used which makes the Joker look a lot more scarier and the audience a lot more involved.

With the posters you can see how serious the Batman is with the way he is standing and the camera angle as how it is low making him look more high, like he has the power. In the second photo you get the same type of feeling with the things around him and the equipment that he is using and the way he is using it as if he was to just be sitting on it, it would be boring.

With this I have to make sure that both photos are effective and different. I am going to have to think of new different conventions such as camera angles (Direct address and Low shot) to think of new ideas to have for my magazine as it is going to have to look professional and not the same.
